Outdoors adventures

The pups had their first outdoor adventure on the front lawn.  Orange was the most curious.  Still a bit overwhelming for the pupsters.

3 weeks old

Three weeks old and starting to look and act like real puppies.  I bumped out to pen to 12 ex-panels and it is filled with different toys.  They are hearing and playing, and their baby teeth are starting to come in.  Litter box training has begun.  The pups LOVE their canned food.  Despite having Yoko on only 4 c of food, she has plenty of milk and the pups are growing fast.  They gained 2 lbs last week.  Weights ranged from 3 lbs 10 oz (Orange) to 3 lbs 15 oz (Blue).

Into the puppy pen

The pups moved out of the pool into a small puppy pen with a litter box.  Whenever we see them waking up, we will lift them into the litterbox and then leave a bit of "scent" in the litterbox to help them learn where to go.  Once they get a bit more mobile, will start adding some stuffed animals and toilet paper rolls for additional environmental enrichment.

We have a bunch of fat big puppies.  Blue and Red both weighed 3 lbs or more.  Weights ranged from 2 lbs 11 oz (Orange) to 3 lbs 1 oz (Blue).  So the pups have already tripled their birth weights, gaining approximately 3 oz per day each!  Orange wins the prize for first pup with his eyes open and the others have their eyes partially open.  A bit slow to reach that milestone.  Pups are starting to toilet on their own which is a very important milestone from the puppy perspective.  They are starting to get up to move away to toilet, so soon ready for litterbox training.  I have started adding some different bedding textures to the pool for environmental enrichment.  BioSensor exercises end on Day 16.
